Alligator Gar are by far the biggest freshwater fish in Texas. These
prehistoric fish have grown to 300 + LBS in Texas rivers, a 300 LB fish is
not likely but a 100 + is expected. Average gator gar on the Red River is
about 125 LBS. This is the ultimate big game fish that many anglers will
never catch in a lifetime. I offer these trips at certain times during the
warmer months and while I can not guarantee you a gator gar I can tell you
that we usually at least have a shot at a fish or two. Hooking one is only
half the battle since these are very large and powerful fish.
