Limits of fish today to 7 LBS AM and PM

Fished a group of 5 this morning. Limited out on box and over 20" fish. 2 big fish one 10 LBS and one 15 LBS. We tried to release the big fish but we just could not revive the fish. The fish are deep and the water temp is getting to warm to release fish pulled from deep water. Usually by about June catch and release is not practical and anyone who catches more than their limit is just killing fish. It was very windy out this morning. There was another guide boat anchored next to us that almost sunk when they started taking water over the bow. They had to cut the anchor rope and bail it out with buckets. I sure was glad to be in that big red 28 footer.

The morning fishing was good, we limited out on box and over 20" fish to 9 LBS. The afternoon was tough and the streak of limits ended at 53 trips. Maybe I should take a mulligan on that one. I was not scheduled to fish the afternoon today so I threw away all my good threadfin shad . I got a call about 12:30 for a trip for 4 with 2 children. Bait was real tough to find in the afternoon but I finally caught enough to go fishing. I threw away better bait than I could find in the afternoon. Ended up catching 22 in the afternoon with a limit of over 20" fish.

Great fishing today. We caught some real good fish this morning with our biggest weighing in at 15.5 LBS. When I meet my afternoon group they asked if we caught any big ones this morning and I told them yes but don't count on getting any big fish. I was wrong because we caught one about 14 LBS and a 9 LB fish. I have to guess the weight of the big one because we held the fish up and they took a pic then I put the fish in the water to revive it a little and it got away from me before I could get a weight or a pic with my camera. O well I would rather see the fish swim off strong then take a chance on killing the fish just to get a weight and pic , but it was every bit of 14 LBS and maybe a little more. The bite in the afternoon was just as fast as you could get a bait down. Here is a pic of my Lowrance x-15 sonar when we were catching them in the afternoon.

We went back for more topwater action this morning but it did not happen like yesterday so we had to use live bait. Limited out on box and over 20" fish. My afternoon trip was tough for me today, we would get on some fish then the wind would change directions and blow us off the fish. We moved around a lot and it was beginning to look like the streak of limiting out might be over but luckily I found a good spot and we finished up strong with a limit of box and over 20" fish.

Only one customer in the boat today so we started off fishing topwater and the fishing was great. The shad were jumping out on the bank trying to get away from the Striper. We caught and released a lot of 20" plus fish up to 8 LBS. I have another trip this afternoon so I will post pics later. Tomorrow morning is open if someone wants to try some topwater fishing. The afternoon fishing was real good with some real nice size fish. Limited out on box and over 20" fish to about 7 LBS.

Another limit of fish today, I think that makes about 44 in a row with limits of fish. It is hard to imagine just how many fish are in Texoma.

We fished a group of 9 this morning in 2 boats and I fished a group of 4 in the afternoon. Everyone caught limits of fish.

We had a big group this morning. 40 some odd people and 10 boats. Everyone limited out and the biggest fish was 15 LBS.

Dale had a group of 9 today , 5 in his boat and 4 in mine. Fishing was very good. Limited out on box fish and over 20" fish. My boat caught a 17 LB fish right off the bat, Dale's boat had a 14LB and a 15LB. We released the big fish.

Topwater fishing was about as good as it gets this morning. We caught a lot of over 20" fish and a couple of big fish , one about 10LB and one about 12LB. We released the big fish and most of the over 20" fish. My trip in the afternoon was good but the fish were smaller. Sorry I had to edit one of the pics because the background would give away the location of these fish I don't mind giving info on deepwater spots but shallow water spots should be kept secret.

Fished a group of 8 in the AM and 5 in the PM. Limited out on box and over 20" fish on both trips. This morning the fish were 30 foot thick under us for about 20 Min. so I was very busy with 8 guys in the boat. The afternoon was very good action also. Filled a 120 quart and a 90 quart cooler this morning with 80 fish and filled my 120 quart this afternoon with 50 fish.

The topwater bite was good today. It was tough to fish topwater with 6 in the boat but we caught about 45 fish then moved to the deep water and finished up with a full box of fish to about 6 LBS.

I finally had a chance to go topwater fishing this morning. I fished with my computer guy Jim and Dave from Dave's Ski and Tackle. We caught about 40 Striper up to 6 LBS and this 5 LB Bass on Top Dogs by Mirror Lure. Fished a group of 2 in the afternoon. We fished live bait and limited out on box and 20" fish.

Fished a group of 4 in the AM and 3 in the PM. Fishing was very good today with lots of over 20" fish and mostly 18-19.75" Box fish. Easy limits .No dinks today all good fish and fast action.

I don't want to say to much about how we caught fish this morning but if you have been thinking about booking a trip you better call right now because this bite we are on will not last long. I have a trip this afternoon and will make another report tonight. My afternoon trip was very good we started of on some schooling topwater fish at 2:00 PM right in the middle of the day. After that was over we anchored up on some fish and caught some nice box fish in the 17-19 inch range about as fast as we could go , moved to another spot and it was all dinks so we left them quick and found some over 20" fish that were just eating us up. Biggest fish was about 8 LBS. We released all the bigger fish that we caught and kept a limit of box fish with a few over 20" that were gut hooked.

Not near as many boats on the lake today as there was yesterday. We caught a lot better box of fish today. Action was not fast but we limited out with 40 fish in the box in about two and a half hours. Several fish over 20".

Fished a group of 2 in the AM and a group of 8 in the PM. The fishing was a little tougher today and most fish were small but at the end of the day we found some bigger fish. We limited out and ran out of bait about the time we started to catch the bigger fish. Cleaned 100 fish today.

Took the same group of 2 that I took yesterday afternoon. We found some better fish today and caught a limit. The weather is going to warm up and the fishing is really good. I need to get this big red boat loaded up heavy while the fishing is good. I have tomorrow and Wednesday open so call now and don't miss out. Thursday is full, Friday I have a group of 2 in the afternoon so I could add 1-3 people to that group if anyone wants to go catch some Striper.

Fishing was a little slower today but still real good. It should get better when the weather warms back up. Small groups today, 2 this morning and 2 this afternoon. Limited out morning and afternoon.

Fished a group of 7 this morning in my boat. Limited out fast with 70 fish. Dale had a group of 7 this afternoon, 4 in his boat and 3 in mine. I anchored up and Dale tied up behind me. Limited out fast. One of Dale's guys caught a 15 pound Striper that was released.

No fishing today. I talked to Dale and he said he got them in the same spot as I have the last 2 days. I have some boat maintenance to do today and I just finished spooling line on all my new Abu Garcia rods and reels. I always try to keep good equipment on the boat.

We could not keep a bait in the water this morning , the fish would hit as soon as you dropped a bait down. No dinks all good size fish from 17 to 22 inches. Tomorrow is open If anyone wants to book it and I have next Tuesday and Wednesday open also.

Fished a group of 4 this morning. We have been fishing a big group up north for the last few days and the bite has slowed down a little up there. I guess the fish are headed for the lower end of the lake, quit early with 37 in the box. Fished another group of 4 this afternoon and the bite was very good. We caught a limit fast with only one rod per person.

Filled the box again this morning. It was a little slower today but that was because we had no wind. The bite should be really good tomorrow with the south wind blowing. The topwater bite is on I just need some customers in the boat that can cast. Limited out on bait again today.

Fished a group of 5 this morning, we limited out with 50 fish in the box by 10 AM. Fished a group of 2 in the afternoon and it was another easy limit of good fish. Catch and release is not a good Idea with live bait but everyone has to do it from time to time. When July comes around forget catch and release because the surface temp is just to hot and the fish get really stressed. If the surface temp is over 80 then don't do it. The best hook I have found for catch and release is a Mustad 39951BLN Demon Circle Extra Fine Wire. Most circle hooks are to heavy for freshwater use but these Mustad extra fine wire are perfect for freshwater use. If you are just trying to fill the box than the Mustad 92604BLN Fine Wire Beak Bait Hook is the answer. I use these hooks every day to make my living. 4/0 is the best size for Texoma Striper.

My morning trip cancelled because of the rain. I fished a group of 4 in the afternoon and it was about as good as it gets, we could not keep a bait in the water. We had 3 fish over 20" and most were 19". The spring time bite is on.

We fished a group of 10 today with 2 boats. We all limited out pretty fast. Looks like we have a front coming so who know what the fish will do when it hits. I will be fishing every day for a while so hopefully this good fishing will last.

Fished every day last week except for Wednesday. Fishing was good some days and bad on others. The fishing should really get good in the next week. Usually the last week in April is when it starts to get consistent. I bought a new computer and should be updating here just about every day now. Only now do I realize how bad my old computer was. I also had some boat trouble last week but I don't even want to get into that.
