We fished way down river today and caught 21 cats up to 16 LBS.

Today was not our lucky day, we lost two big fish early in the day then struggled to get another big bite. The first big one came to the surface and rolled over then slapped its tail and headed for open water where the hook came out, looked to be about 40 LBS. The next one was bigger and we fought it for about 3 minutes then we saw a big head come out of the water and roll over and that was it. We caught a few small fish along the way up to 15 LBS then late in the day we hit a good hole and pulled 4 fish over 20 LBS , the biggest was 28.

Fishing was pretty good on the river today. We caught about a dozen or so catfish including a 18,19,28,33,and 37 LB blue cats. We also caught a few paddlefish.

Fished the river again today but the bite was slow, we only caught 3 fish but one was a 57 pound blue. We also caught a 27 LB blue that I think I have caught before, it has a deformed head. I looked back and found it in the archived reports ( Feb. 12,2003 if you want to look at it) and they look the same and the fish is still the same weight.

Another good day on the river. Caught 10 cats today 45,38,36,36,33,29,28,14LBS and a couple of small ones. My Mustad circle hooks are hooking and holding almost every bite we get from a big fish. It takes a lot to impress me but I really am surprised how good these hooks work. This is the hook for big cats Mustad 39951BLN size 10/0

Fished the river today and had a very good day. We caught about 30 catfish, most were 3-9 LBS but we also released a 18,20,25, 30,and 30 LB blue cats. My schedule is getting full so call now if you want to book a winter river catfish trip.

Fished a group of 5 on the lake today for striper, limited out on box and over 20" fish up to 8 LBS. We put 40 in the box in about a hour then had to go find them one more time and finished up on a good bite.

Fished the river today. Ended up with about 10 catfish with 2 over 20 LBS , 21 and 25 LBS. We also caught a 14 LB drum and a few paddlefish.

We were going to fish the river today but my guys got hung up in a airport in Kansas and did not make it. I have a few days open before Christmas and the River fishing for big cats has been really good. December 14 ( Wed.),17( Sat.) ,and Dec 24(Sat.) are open. After Christmas the 26th,29th and 30th are open The 26th will be a good day to fish way down river for catfish, paddlefish, and possibly gator gar. With the current generation schedule at the dam the catfishing is good and we are catching paddlefish every trip if we want .

Fished a full day trip on the river today. We caught about 20 catfish today from 4- 28 LBS, most were 5-7 LBS with two 13 LBS , one 16 LBS and one 28 LBS. We also snagged a few paddlefish, the two paddlefish in the pic below were caught at the same time, one was hooked and the other was wrapped up in the line. I have open days for river fishing and it looks like it is getting better. The striper fishing in the lake with artificial lures is also going to be getting good with the cold weather ahead.

Fished a half day trip on the river today. Caught 2 catfish 15 and 27 LBS and one big striper that went 28 LBS. Back on the river again tomorrow for a full day.

With the weather forecast for today I figured the lure bite would be tough today so I caught a few shad yesterday just to be on the safe side. We started out fishing slabs and it was not working so I threw out the anchor and we caught all the box fish we wanted up to 19". We left those fish to go look for a few bigger ones and never found anything but a few more fish. I sure am glad I had that bait this morning. We need it to get cold again to catch them on lures.

Fished the lake again today, it was cold but not near as windy. We started off throwing topwater lures and caught about 12 fish but it was a little slow so we went looking for some big schools of fish in the open water, we found them big time and 3 of us caught well over 100 fish today. I was not sure how the bite would be today so I was boxing 16-18 inch fish then when we were close to a limit the fish really turned on and we caught and released a lot of 19- 24 inch fish. All fish were caught on lures. I am finished with live bait fishing till spring so now is the time to book a lure trip. The fishing should be really good for the next 2 months.

Fished the river again today. Biggest was a 51 LB blue then a 40 LB blue, also caught a 12 and a couple under 10. Check out the 25 LB grass carp we snagged. Back on the lake tomorrow.

Fished the river today and did fair. Biggest fish was a 27 LB blue cat and we also had a 18,12 and a few smaller ones. The water was to high to catch paddle fish but we did catch one. Hooked a couple of big Gator Gar but lost them.

We fished a group of 42 this morning with 8 boats and everyone limited out. I fished another group of 6 in the afternoon and limited out. The fish are still running a little on the small side but as it cools off we should get more consistent on the bigger fish.

Fished the river today for trophy catfish and caught 2 that weighed 35 and 60 LBS. I have a new favorite hook for catfish now that Mustad has started making a 10/0 extra fine wire circle hook the Mustad 39951BLN is as good a circle hook as money can buy. This is a light gauge hook and has a wide gap that is perfect for catfish.

Some friends and I have been fishing lures the last few days and the bite has been real good and should get even better as it cools off more. Time is running out this year for bait fishing so if you have a group that needs to fish bait we need to get it done in the next 2 weeks. November is getting booked up but I still have a few days open, lots of days open in December and if you can take the cold it should be the best month for lure fishing. I am also booking winter catfish trips. I am fishing the river the next 2 days so maybe some pics of some big cats.

We fished a group of 15 on the lake today with 2 boats. The north wind was blowing 15-25 so we were limited as to where we could fish. We limited out with 150 fish by 10:00 AM but a lot of them were small today.

Fished a group of 5 in the AM and 3 in the PM. Started off throwing lures and limited out on over 20" fish up to 12 LBS ( released the 12 LB fish) then we bait fished and ended up with 38 fish in the box. Bait fished in the afternoon and limited out.

Fished a group of 5 today. We started off throwing lures this morning and caught and released lots of big fish up to about 12 LBS, left the big fish biting and went bait fishing to fill out our limit of box fish. The cold front really turned on the big fish.

Another great day for lure fishing. Caught about 75 -100 fish with 3 over 10 LBS, all big fish were released. Fished a group of 5 adults and 2 kids in the afternoon and caught 53 fish on live bait.

Much better today. The wind was not as bad, it was a 100+ fish day. Fished a group of 4 with lures today and it was just one of those days that you don't get very often. Ended up with 31 fish in the box and released all the rest because they were all over 20" fish. Fished another group in the afternoon and we went catfishing on the river then we bowfished after dark. Caught a few catfish and shot a few fish.

Too much wind is the best way to describe it today. We started out good catching a few fish then we were going to another spot and somehow one of my customers twisted his ankle and broke it , so that ended our day. I went back out for a while after I took them in and the fishing was good but it was real tough to fight the wind and waves.

Fished a group of 7 on the lake today. Since bait was tough to find yesterday I got out a little earlier today but I could only get 105 baits by 7:30 so we went with it. Ended up with a limit of 70 fish in the box but all were small box fish.

Fished a group of 6 on the lake today. Bait was tough to find so against my better judgment I decided to throw some topwaters today and when I say I threw them I mean I threw them. Since Nobody could cast I had to do all the casting and that kept me busy. When that was over we anchored up in deep water and caught about 15 fish before they left us and we ran out of bait. We ended up with 40 fish in the box and released about 10 more over 20" fish.

Today was everything that I said it would be yesterday and more. 4 of us caught well over 100 fish on topwater and left them biting at 11:00 AM, you either got bit or caught a fish almost every cast. The wind was blowing and the waves were big but they were no match for my big red boat today.

A lot of people ask me about topwater fishing for striper when we are drowning shad and I usually tell them spring and fall and watch the website. Well fall is here and topwater fishing will be good some days and bad others but as a whole this fall should be very good. Tomorrow should be about as good as it gets if the weather forecast is right , strong north wind all night and low around 55. There are wasps trying to get in my window as I type this so that is a pretty good indication that a strong cold front is coming. I have tomorrow morning open for booking. You have to go on the right days for good topwater fishing and if you check back here tomorrow I think you will see what I mean.

Looks like Rita went east of Galveston and weakened to a cat 3 before land fall, that is good news. Maybe Gas prices will not go up. Fished a group of 3 in the AM and 4 in the PM. Fishing was good but bait catching was almost impossible on my end of the lake in the morning and it was impossible in the afternoon. We got enough bait to fish with but it was not easy. I am going to start further west in the morning. O yea the wind was blowing a little today.

No fishing this week till Saturday. Hard to stay on the fish when you fish one day a week. Looks like the Texas gulf coast is in serious trouble, if Rita hits Galveston I may be looking for a new job because I bet we will see gas prices over 4 dollars a gallon if it hits as a cat. 4 or 5 storm. I guess hope for the best and prepare for the worst.

Looks like tough times ahead. Hurricane Katrina might be 9-11 all over again. I will probably not have many reports this month since I only have a few trips booked and I can't afford to fish much on my own with the gas prices as high as they are and if it gets worse I will need all the money I can save just to get through the tough times.

Shark fished again today and it was much better for us today. Caught all the sharks we wanted by 10:00 AM so we went to the jetties and fished for bull reds with no success. Seas were rough today and it will be rough again tomorrow. Tomorrow will make 15 days in a row out in the gulf and that is enough for me, I am going to take off the 16th, and 17th for some rest.

Shark fishing today and we finally had a tough day. We got into some fish two different times but it did not last long at either spot. Ended up catching about 6 Sharks and 2 jacks but we also lost a few sharks, we probably had about 15 good runs but we just had some bad luck getting them to the boat.

Limited out on snapper today and one king. The striper fishing is really good on texoma right now and my partners are slow so if you want to catch a bunch of stripers let me know and I can set you up a good trip. It looks like the striper fishing will probably be good for the first part of September and I will be back on texoma in September.

Fished near shore today and the shark fishing was all you could stand. We found a group of about 8 shrimp boats and the sharks were so thick that as soon as you put a bait in the water it would get eaten right away. We also caught a lot of kings. Fished off shore today and ended up with a good box of fish. 11 red snapper to 10 LBS, 3 dolphin to 10 lbs, a 14 LB amberjack,2 mangrove snapper and a few kings. We had about a 5 foot barracuda eat a amberjack right at the boat.
