January 30,2010
The way it looks this morning after all the rain the river will not be good till the water slows down. I am thinking about fishing Lake Tawakoni since that has really been producing a lot of big cats this winter. Call or e-mail me if you are interested in a trip on Lake Tawakoni.

January 27,2010
Skunked on the river today. I don't know what happened to the fish today but we only hooked two big cats today and lost both of them.

January 26,2010
Fishing was pretty good on the river today. We caught about 15 fish, 42 was the biggest then we had a 35, 30 ,and about 5 in the 20's. Saw a lot of bald eagles and this little ultra-lite plane.

January 16,2010
Fished the river today for big cats. Caught a 36,35,25 and a few smaller ones. The weather looks great next week and I have days open.

January 13,2010
I have not been fishing with the crazy weather we have had lately but I went out today and caught this 40 LB blue cat on the lake. I usually don't fish in Late January thru early March but I may have to do some fishing during that time this year. Here is a pic of the 40 pound fish from today and a few pics from the end of December.

December 13,2009
Fished the river today for big cats and caught two trophies, one 38LB and the other 40 LBS. Check out the pic of the  38 LB fishes head, not even a hint of an eye on one side. I have caught cats with scars where they lost an eye but I cant remember ever seeing one like this. We also caught a few 5-17 LB fish.

December 12,2009
Fished the lake for striper today and did really good. We caught a limit + with a few nice size fish including a 29 inch fish that we kept and a 32 inch fish that we released to fight again, Wish more people would do that, we also lost 2 more big fish that we never got to see. We were dead sticking bass assassins in the river channel under the birds. All fish were fat, healthy, and full of shad. Looks like we will have some real nice fish to catch next spring.

December 11,2009
Fished the river for big cats today. No giants today but 3 fish in the 20 to 28 LB range. We also caught a few smaller fish and saw a few bald eagles.

December 10,2009
Started off cold this morning and did not warm up much but at least the sun it was sunny. Caught a few small fish, one good fish (32 LBS) and one great fish (61 LBS)

December 9,2009
Was going to fish today but decided 23 degrees with 25 mph winds would be a little tough.

December 5, 2009
Another good day on the river. Caught a few blue cats up to 30 LBS and this huge striper that weighed 31 LBS. Also like most days this time of year we got to see some bald eagles. It started off a little cold but ended up being a nice day on the river.

December 4,2009
First big catfish trip of the winter. We did pretty good with 3 trophy size fish. The pics are of a 25 LB blue, 26 LB flathead, and the big fish of the day a 48 LB blue. We lost a couple more big fish and caught a few smaller ones. I don't have a good lens for bald eagle pics but I snapped this pic as we were running down the river.

November 27,2009
Fished a group of 3 on the lake in the afternoon today. Easy limit and the fish are getting a little more meat on them. They should be in great shape for next spring.

November 26,2009
Here are a few pics from my vacation in Costa Rica. I fished one day  , the weather was not good for sportfishing but we ended up catching 7 decent mahi and one big sail.

November 23,24,2009
Back on the Brazos river for a couple of days. Striper bite was good on 20-25 inch fish but most were on the skinny side. Bass fishing was great with lots of real good size fish up to 8 LBS.

November 18,19, 2009
Fished the Brazos river and caught good numbers of  striper and kept a limit both days. We also caught a lot of really nice size bass that we released.

November 14,2009
We fished a group of 10 on the lake today with 2 boats. Caught limits of ok fish but still not the size I would like to see. Should get better on size as it gets colder.
November 12,2009
Fished the Brazos river today. Started off striper fishing and it was non stop action, caught a limit and released a few more. Moved to another hole and lost one big fish then we caught a few real nice bass and called it a morning. I am going to try to book some trips on the Brazos next week so call or e-mail if you are interested in a Brazos river trip.

November 9,2009
I have been in Costa Rica for 5 days ,more on that later.  Fished a group of 3 this morning. Started off throwing topwater lures and caught a few nice fish but the bite was a little slow so we switched to live bait and the action really picked up with non stop action for about 2 hours. Released a lot of fish , kept a limit of box and over 20" fish. Still some small fish but much better size average then last week. Only have a few days left available for winter trophy catfishing on the river so if you want to get a trip together we need to get it booked now. I have lots of days open for striper fishing in November and the fishing is really just now getting good.

October 31,2009
Fished a group of 17 in 3 boats today. We fished live bait and everyone caught lots of fish and kept limits. Fish are still running small.

October 24,2009
Fished a group of 7 in the AM and 2 in the PM. Fishing was good with easy limits of fish. The weather was nice so the fish were a little small. As usual bad weather equals better size fish.

October 23,2009
With the cooler weather the topwater bite is coming to a end soon but it was good for the first hour this morning. Caught a limit of box and over 20" fish this morning and also caught one real nice fish that we released to fight again.

October 18,2009
Fished bait trips Thursday, Friday ,and Saturday and the action was fast on box fish. Fishing should stay good till the end of the year. I have lots of days open till December then it looks like I will be busy catfishing on the river.

October 8,2009
Topwater fishing was great early, first cast was a double, that's two striper on one lure and it happened again later in the morning. We caught lots of fish on top but some were small and some to skinny. The sun   peaked through the clouds and the topwater was pretty much over so we moved out to deeper water and really got them good on live bait. Needed a boat full this morning because the fish were so thick we could have caught all the fish we needed.

October 6,2009
I went to the lake in between storms and the topwater bite was as good as it gets on mostly box fish and a few over 20" fish. With the bad weather the topwater bite should be good this week.

October 4,2009
Fished the lake this afternoon and had great topwater action, nothing big but lots of over 20" fish and good box fish.

October 2,2009
Fished the river for flatheads and only caught one 16 LB fish. We  lost a few good ones and had one big fish get hung in a tree and broke a 80 LB leader but we should have had a few more bites then what we got.

September 27,2009
Back on the river with the same group of 4 but we had much better luck today. Started out missing one big fish then caught a 20 LB blue cat. Later we hooked a giant and never moved it much and the hook came loose so we were a little down about that till we got another bite and landed a 33 LB flathead, next was the big fish of the night, a 51 LB monster of a flathead. We caught one more flathead that weighed 21 LBS and called it a day. On the way back we found this rattlesnake swimming across the river. When we got back to the truck I told my guys to watch out where they were stepping and sure enough right as I walked up to my truck there was a copperhead laid out on the gravel trying to stay warm.

September 26,2009
Back on the river with a group of four for gator gar and big cats. Only caught a few longnose gar and one 7 LB blue cat. Best part of the trip was watching some fool fly a small plane under the river bridge.

September 25,2009
Helped with a big group striper fishing on the lake today. Lake seems to be turning over and the bite was slow but it should improve in the next week. Also fished a river gar and catfish trip that was a bust except for 2 decent blue cats up to 15 LBS.

September 23,2009
Topwater fishing was better today and the first cast produced a 15 LB fish. Lots of nice fish this morning with 2 double digit fish. Should be more of those double digit topwater fish showing up as the water cools off. We kept a limit of fish and released a bunch more. The two big fish were released as always.

September 22,2009
Fished a group of two on the lake this morning. We only fished topwater lures and it was good with lots of over 20" fish and ended up with a good limit of fish. Not as good as last week but still very good. Might be better tomorrow with the cool night.

September 21,2009
I went down the river this afternoon looking for gator gar and flathead cats. Found some big gar and had some good runs but never hooked one. I had to get off the river with the storms coming so I did not get to fish for the flathead cats. Also found some paddlefish.

September 18,2009
Fished a group of 4 today and it was the same deal. We stayed out three and a half hours and caught well over 100 fish on topwater. Kept a nice limit and released a lot of over 20" fish.

September 17,2009
Fished a single today and the topwater bite was crazy again today. First cast produced a 19.5" and a 21" striper on the same lure and the action was non stop all afternoon. Nothing over 5 LBS but lots of over 20" and 17-20 inch box fish. One spot was so good we just cast out and reeled as fast as possible to try to not get a fish but usually the fish would still catch the lure. Fishing a group of 4 in the morning and if it is anything like today was I will have my hands full.

September 16,2009
I fished the lake for about two hours today and the topwater bite was as good as it gets. Two of us caught 60-80 fish  and they were all nice fish, no dinks. We did not catch a fish on every cast but would usually at least get hit a few times.

September 16,2009
Rain, Rain, Rain!!! The rain is good for the lake and the topwater striper fishing is as good as it gets. The gar fishing might not happen if it keeps raining .Right now the wind is blowing pretty good out of the north with a light rain and since that is about as good a conditions as you can ask for I am headed to the lake to throw some topwater lures.

September 9,2009
I did some scouting on the river yesterday and found a good gator gar hole but it looks like we will have to make a little run to get to the flathead cats because it does not look like they are in the gar holes. I had two good gar bites and I missed the first one after he made one long run, he ripped of a lot of line then the hook just broke lose. The second bite I made sure the fish had taken the bait good and when I set the hook the fight was on and I knew I had hooked what I was after. I pulled the fish in close to the boat 3 different times and he would come to the surface and get a breath of air, yes gar have a small lung, then use his long body to lift his head about 3 foot out of the water shaking his head in an attempt to throw the hook. Finally the fish was tired out and I had to get him in the boat for some pics. Getting the fish in and out of the boat by myself was not easy. The pics are not very good but it was tough to do by myself in the dark. No way for me to weigh it but I would say at least 125 and probably closer to 150 LBS

A few more pics from P.O.C.

September 7,2009
I have been a little lazy the last two weeks but I am ready to go get some big gator gar and flathead catfish. From now till the end of the month I will be running 8 hour trips on the Red River for gator gar and flathead catfish. Trips will run from 3 to 11 PM and will start fishing for gator gar and then late in the evening we will switch to fishing for flatheads. This is a limited time offer to fish for these elusive fish. Cost is $500.00 for 1-3 and $600.00 for 4 people.

August 24,2009
I went tarpon fishing by myself today and quit early ,after catching two big tarpon I was done. If  I would have had somebody else with me to reel them in I would have stayed and hooked a few more just to watch them jump out of the water. I still have a few days open this week if you want to come catch some big fish but if not you can come back here and see the pics because I only have a few days left down here in P.O.C and I am going fishing with or without you.
